There’s no question that New Jersey is an expensive state to live in. But where exactly are the most expensive places to call home?
According to a recent study by SmartAsset, the most expensive city in New Jersey is Newark, where the average home costs a whopping $321,000. Not far behind is Jersey City, where the average home costs $316,000.
Rounding out the top five are Paterson, Elizabeth, and Trenton, where the average home costs $298,000, $293,000, and $274,000, respectively.
So what are the least expensive places to live in New Jersey? SmartAsset’s study found that the five cheapest cities are all located in the southern part of the state.
The cheapest city in New Jersey is “Vineland“, where the average home costs just $160,000. That’s followed by Camden, where the average home costs $169,000.
Rounding out the top five cheapest cities in New Jersey are Bridgeton, Millville, and Passaic, where the average home costs $170,000, $172,000, and $174,000, respectively.
So if you’re looking for a more affordable place to live in New Jersey, it looks like you’ll need to head south.
